The Sitges Town Council together with Fes + Chapeau organize the “Re-evoluciona” Performing Arts Festival on July 17th, 18th and 19th

The first face-to-face street festival in the middle of post-lockdown will be programming circus and dance at Parc de Can Robert with health restrictions.

Sitges will be hosting the “Re-evoluciona” (Re-evolution) Festival on July 17th, 18th and 19th, organized by the Sitges Town Hall and the Fes + Chapeau Festival. This is the first face-to-face street arts festival to be held since the state of alarm was decreed, a festival that has been programmed complying with the restrictions imposed by the health authorities. The festival includes performances by three circus companies, three dance companies and a top quality, intimate concert. All the shows will take place in two of the town’s open-air public venues: Parc de Can Robert.

Les Impuxibles with pianist Clara Peya will present a preview of their show 'Des-espera' and the Madam Gaucín Company will be present its preview of 'Fil', while Kolektiv Lapso Cirk will be staging 'Ovvio', and the company Ricky the Tennis Professor will perform 'Profesor de tenis'. The program will be complemented by two dance shows: 'Bailando bailábamos' by Laia Santanach and 'Niagara' by La Intrusa, as well as a concert by Gerard Quintana and Xarim Aresté.

The councilor for Culture, Xavier Salmerón, assures us that “this festival is a cultural activity that wasn’t scheduled as part of the initial program of the Sitges Town Council's Department of Culture, but it has finally been incorporated because we believe in the project and, above all, we want Sitges to stand by the professional performing arts sector, programming new activities and revitalizing this summer's cultural program”. Xavier Salmerón adds that “this activity has been added to the extraordinary cultural program we are putting together, such as outdoor cinema, concerts by talented local artists and concerts at the Racó de la Calma (The Quiet Corner), which will be presented next week”.

The creator of the Fes + Chapeau festival, Isaac Dominguez, says that "Re-evoluciona is a festival dedicated to our language, Circus, a festival that defends the arts of movement that are at risk. This event, which supports new Catalan languages in the performing arts, wants to reflect on the concept of balance: balance in society, balance of being or not being an artist, balance of contact, balance of survival, of life and death, what is the last straw? Balance in artistic action, what marks normality and/or what is wrong in each of us, the balance of a smile, the limits of balance, profession, vocation, or both?”

Most of the groups will offer two performances in order to maintain limited seating following the safety rules in Phase 2. The Department of Culture will adapt all its programming according to the situation of each moment.

The festival will offer very affordable prices, from 5 to 12 euros. Starting this Thursday, June 4th at 12 noon, and until Sunday, 50 tickets will be on sale on the festival's website for 35 euros to see all the shows. As of Monday, advance tickets will also be on sale on the festival's website:
